Shahram Ghasemian has stepped down from his position as senior vice president, general counsel, chief compliance officer and corporate secretary at Centrus Energy as part of a leadership shake-up.
Following his departure, Richard Emery, who currently serves as the firm’s deputy general counsel and director of corporate compliance, will become acting general counsel, chief compliance officer and corporate secretary as the company finds a successor.
Ghasemian will resign from his role on June 29 to pursue another opportunity, the NYSE-listed company says in an SEC filing. There are no further details about its search for a permanent replacement for the general counsel position.
Prior to becoming general counsel, Ghasemian served as the primary legal advisor to Centrus Energy’s technical solutions business segment and advised on a wide range of topics including commercial and government contracting, procurement, regulatory, securities law and corporate compliance, employment, litigation and employee benefits among others.
The company writes that he has ‘substantial and broad experience in the nuclear energy industry’, working for its predecessor company USEC (United States Enrichment Corporation) for nearly a decade, including serving as the chief counsel at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Kentucky.
Ghasemian also held various positions within the US federal government, including at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the Department of Energy and on Capitol Hill.
