Leading in-house counsel group starts first chapter in Latin America
In-house counsel in Argentina are the newest member of the ACC family following the creation of the first ever Latin American chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel.
The Argentina chapter, the 53rd of the ACC, is based in Buenos Aires and will hold bi-monthly events aimed at educating and fostering greater communication between in-house counsel at multi-national firms based in the country. The Inaugural event was hosted December 1 and focused on FCPA issues.
Esteban Mazzucco, international senior corporate counsel of Clorox International has been appointed as the chapter’s first president. ‘ACC is a great organization that will enable us to provide resources and programs crafted specifically to in-house counsel practicing in Latin America. While we share many of the same concerns as our peers in the US, Canada, Europe and other countries across the globe, working at a multinational corporation based in Latin America presents unique legal challenges. We know ACC will continue its tradition of helping in-house counsel do their jobs more effectively in this global environment,’ he remarked in accepting the nomination.
Mazzucco is joined on the board by eight other directors from Bridgestone Argentina, DirecTV Argentina, General Electric International, Hewlett-Packard Argentina, Monsanto Argentina, Nextel Communications Argentina, St Jude Medical and Telefonica Movies de Argentina.
‘The Argentina Chapter constitutes a significant step by ACC to serve the Latin American and multinational in-house legal community,’ says ACC president Frederick Krebs. ‘We commend Esteban and the entire chapter board. Their experience, knowledge and contacts will enable ACC to continue its leadership role in addressing important legal issues impacting in-house counsel.’
