Ben Ashwell is the digital editor at IR Magazine and Corporate Secretary, covering investor relations, governance, risk and compliance. Prior to this, he was the founder and editor of Executive Talent, the global quarterly magazine from the Association of Executive Search and Leadership Consultants. Before moving to the US, Ben was the vice president and editor at Executive Grapevine, overseeing a daily news website, ten annual supplements and HR Grapevine, the UK’s leading HR and talent management magazine. In his spare time, Ben writes fiction, poetry and arts and culture reviews. Eyewear Publishing recently named him in their list of the Best New British and Irish Poets.
David Burdziuk, director of IR, Suncor Energy
As Director of Suncor’s Investor Relations team, David Burdziuk leads initiatives ranging from the development of external communications focused on corporate strategy to the development of the technology and ESG investor tours, presentations and non-deal roadshows. Prior to assuming this role David had spent over 12 years working within the oil sands industry focused on in situ extraction. David has most recently served as Manager of MacKay River’s reservoir exploitation and development teams, during which time he oversaw significant improvements in the efficiency and performance of the asset as well as oversight of multiple technology developments focused on improving the sustainability of the SAGD process. Before joining Suncor David led the development of CSS projects for one of the major oil sands energy companies in Alberta where he also played a key role in leading an investigation working closely with the Alberta Regulator in understanding the mechanism of an oil leak from reservoir to surface. David holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta.
Marc Butler, director of thought leadership, Intelligize
Marc has worked in the SEC research and compliance space for more than 20 years. Marc was a research manager at GSI and later led the business law education and training department at Thomson Reuters. In 2008, Marc authored a primer on the financial crisis. Currently, Marc leads the development of the securities news and content at Intelligize.
Sally Curley, founder and CEO, Curley Global IR (CGIR)
Sally is founder and CEO of Curley Global IR (CGIR), LLC, an investor relations (IR), environmental-social-governance (ESG) survey and corporate governance strategic advisory firm. For nearly a decade, Sally served as senior vice president, investor relations for Cardinal Health, a Fortune 50 global healthcare services company, where she was a member of the Global Leadership Team and oversaw the company’s worldwide IR efforts.
Sally co-founded and co-chaired the company’s first cross-functional committee responsible for assessing and advancing ESG (environmental, social and governance) initiatives. Prior to Cardinal Health, Sally was vice president, investor relations for Genzyme Corporation (now Sanofi), where for nine years she led global IR and helped to advise its board’s nominating and governance committee on corporate governance issues. In both organizations, she grew the domestic and international shareholder base substantially.
Sally has served on the National Investor Relations Institute’s (NIRI’s) board of directors, as a past president of the Boston Chapter, and is currently a senior roundtable steering committee member. A member of the Society for Corporate Governance, Sally serves on its ESG Working Group.
