The former SVP and general counsel at H&R Block now heads up the home builder's legal department
Brian Woram has joined KB Home, a Los Angeles-based, NYSE-listed home builder, in the role of executive vice president, general counsel and secretary.
Woram assumes the title from Wendy Shiba, who has held it since 2007 and is leaving the company at the end of the year. In the interim – and to help facilitate the transition – Shiba has moved into the role of executive vice president and special counsel to KB Home.
Woram comes to KB Home from H&R Block, where he held the post of senior vice president and general counsel. Before that he spent 14 years at the Dallas, Texas-based public home builder Centex Corporation. Woram held various leadership roles during his tenure at Centex, including senior vice president, chief legal officer and chief compliance officer, and was responsible for the legal, internal audit and corporate compliance functions.
Woram’s experience further includes a stint as shareholder at the private practice law firm now known as Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell.
As an undergraduate student, Woram attended Texas A&M University and received a bachelor of business science degree in mechanical engineering. He then received his JD from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was also involved with the Texas Law Review.
