Equipment rental supplier Herc Holdings has hired Wade Sheek as senior vice president, chief legal officer (CLO) and corporate secretary, effective November 18.
Sheek most recently served as general counsel and secretary at Republic Airways Holdings. Before that, he was deputy general counsel and corporate secretary at Allegion with responsibility for SEC matters, corporate governance, M&A and strategic initiatives.
Herc Holdings in July stated in a regulatory filing that Maryann Waryjas, senior vice president, CLO and secretary, would be retiring from the company after working through a transition period from October until March 31, 2020, during which time she will be special counsel and adviser to the CEO.
Earlier in his career, Sheek was senior associate general counsel and assistant secretary at Ingersoll-Rand. In that role, he led the spin-off of the company’s security technology business. He has also held securities and corporate counsel positions at UnitedHealth Group and The Home Depot.
In his new position, Sheek is head of all aspects of the Bonita Springs, Florida-based company’s legal function, including contractual and transaction-related legal activities and regulatory and litigation matters. He also oversees the company’s corporate governance and statutory reporting requirements.
‘Wade brings comprehensive legal experience, deep understanding of industrial and commercial services businesses, and seasoned executive leadership to our company,’ says Herc Holdings president and CEO Larry Silber in a statement. ‘I am confident his contributions will advance our long-term strategies related to our people, revenue growth, customer experiences, operational effectiveness and financial discipline.’
