Lamm’s dedication to governance spans a career across top companies
The lifetime achievement Award for the Corporate Governance Awards 2016 has been awarded to Bob Lamm.
‘From an investor’s perspective, Bob is unique.’ So says Donna Anderson, vice president and global corporate governance analyst at T Rowe Price, and a Corporate Governance Awards 2016 judge. A ‘true advocate’ inside the company, Lamm is also a ‘trusted source of insight and perspective, and a good source of some pretty funny governance stories!’ she continues.
Lamm’s dedication to governance spans a career across top companies from CA to Pfizer to WR Grace & Co, as well as extensive experience at small and mid-caps and nonprofits, and a long and active commitment to the Society for Corporate Governance. He currently practices at Florida-based law firm Gunster, where he serves as co-chair of the firm’s securities & corporate governance practice. In addition, he acts as an independent senior adviser to the Deloitte Center for Board Effectiveness and as an advisory director of Argyle, which advises corporations on the effective communication of corporate governance.
As well as his many career highlights, however, one of the things many people mention when describing Lamm is his sense of humor. Echoing Anderson’s comments about his funny governance stories, fellow judge Carol Strickland, chief administrative officer and corporate secretary at EverPower Wind Holdings, says of Lamm: ‘He has the ability to make even the most esoteric subject understandable through his use of laughter and comic relief. His curious mind and gracious, sharing nature have led Bob not only to continually reinvent himself in the corporate governance arena but also to share his wealth of knowledge with those in the field.’

– Michael Mitrione, attorney, Gunster
‘Bob genuinely loves his work and has a great spirit. And he gets things done – we used to call him The producer’
– Suzanne Rolon, director of corporate governance, Pfizer
‘As a senior independent adviser, Bob has made an indelible mark. His dedication shows his deep passion for investing in the next generation of independent directors’
– Deb DeHaas, vice chair, chief inclusion officer and national managing partner, Deloitte Center for Board Effectiveness
