Kevin Connor, senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary with movie theater chain AMC Entertainment Holdings, will retire from the company effective March 13 after more than two decades.
AMC has appointed Edwin Gladbach, vice president for legal, as interim general counsel and corporate secretary. According to an AMC statement, the company will decide on its pick for the long-term general counsel position later in the year, with both external and internal candidates including Gladbach, being considered.
Connor joined AMC in 2002 and has been involved in major developments at the company such as its 2006 merger with Loews Cineplex Entertainment, its 2013 IPO and the acquisitions of Odeon/UCI Cinemas, Nordic Cinemas Group and Carmike Cinemas.
Gladbach has been with AMC since 2009. According to his LinkedIn profile, he was previously senior counsel at Interstate Bakeries Corporation, which had traditionally been the maker of Wonder Bread and Hostess Twinkies. Before that he was an attorney with law firm Shook, Hardy & Bacon.
Adam Aron, chair and CEO of AMC, says in a statement: ‘I want to thank Kevin Connor for his more than two decades of dedicated service to AMC. We are a better company from his having guided our legal efforts these many years and we wish him well as retirement sparks the next chapter of his life. We are equally grateful that Kevin has devoted considerable effort in training potential successors.’
