Union Pacific Railroad has appointed Christina Conlin as senior vice president, chief legal officer (CLO) and corporate secretary.
In that role she will oversee all aspects of the company’s legal affairs, including commercial transactions and litigation, labor and employment and regulatory matters. She will also lead Union Pacific’s claims management team.
Conlin succeeds Craig Richardson, who will retire at the end of March. She joined Union Pacific in December as senior vice president and deputy general counsel.
Conlin was previously chief risk officer and associate general counsel with The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. She led the company’s legal enterprise risk group with legal oversight for labor and employment, regulatory affairs, environmental, health and safety, compliance and ethics and sustainability reporting. She was previously a partner at Baker McKenzie in the law firm’s international commercial group and held multiple roles at McDonald’s Corporation, including European chief compliance officer.
Richardson has been CLO and corporate secretary since December 2020. Before joining Union Pacific in 2016 as associate general counsel, he was principal shareholder at law firm Greenberg Traurig and had been vice president and general counsel of the El Paso Pipeline Group.
Earlier in his career Richardson held various national security positions in the US government.
Union Pacific CEO Jim Vena says in a statement: ‘Christina is a wonderful addition to the [company’s] team. She brings a wealth of experience and a strong track record of leadership that will enhance operational efficiency and drive long-term value.
‘Over the past decade, Craig has led Union Pacific through a dynamic legal and regulatory landscape. I am grateful for his contributions and look forward to seeing Christina continue to help us navigate the opportunities and challenges ahead as we deliver safe and reliable service for our customers.’
