Pan-American Life Insurance Group (PALIG) is promoting deputy general counsel Jose Corrada to senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary.
He will assume his new role on March 31 when Patrick Fraizer retires as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary.
Corrada joined PALIG in 2008 as associate general counsel and last year was promoted to the position of deputy general counsel. Before joining the company, he served as associate counsel for Peoples Health in Metairie, Louisiana, where he advised on corporate, healthcare, law, labor, corporate governance and insurance regulatory matters.
Previously, Corrada was an associate with Middleberg Riddle & Gianna in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where his areas of practice included commercial litigation and corporate, healthcare and insurance regulatory matters.
New Orleans-based PALIG provides insurance and financial services and is comprised of more than 20 member companies. It provides individual and/or group life, accident and health insurance, employee benefits and financial services in 49 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
‘Pat has been planning for this moment and during his long tenure has laid a strong foundation for our legal and compliance functions to continue excelling in the future,’ José Suquet, chair of PALIG’s board and president and CEO, says in a statement. ‘More importantly, his expertise and counsel were instrumental in guiding PALIG through several major mergers and acquisitions that have transformed the company. I will miss Pat’s partnership and legal acumen, but he has earned the opportunity to enjoy the next phase of his life in the company of his family and friends.’
Suquet adds: ‘Jose has greatly contributed to our organization over the past decade and is ready to assume the leadership of our legal function. He and his team will continue to provide invaluable support as PALIG enters its next phase of growth.’
