Chevron's longtime chief governance officer talks about her efforts to mentor women in business and the need for expanded criteria for recruiting board members
Lydia Beebe received a Corporate Governance Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2014 for distinguishing herself on a number of fronts, not least for being the first woman to become a corporate officer at Chevron, where she has been corporate secretary and chief governance officer since 1995. Her longstanding commitment to mentoring women as executives and her contributions on the advisory boards of two renowned academic centers for the study of corpporate governance were also recognized in this award.
