Domenick DiCicco has joined Health Insurance Innovations (HIIQ) as its chief compliance officer (CCO) and counsel. In his new role, DiCicco works with the company’s executive leadership and regulatory compliance teams, covering issues such as healthcare, strategic research, analytics, risk management and technology.
‘HIIQ continues to improve its already strong compliance controls and processes, and as part of that they added the role of CCO,’ a spokesperson for the firm says.
DiCicco was previously global general counsel for risk and benefits firm Sedgwick. In that role, he oversaw 120 corporate entities globally, developed a legal team comprising more than 50 professionals and led major transactions such as the acquisition of Cunningham Lindsey.
Before that, he worked as senior vice president and global head of litigation management at AIG, leading a team to develop global compliance programs, best practices in litigation and transactional and regulatory legal services. During his career, DiCicco has also served as general counsel for Alexander Gallo Holdings and head of global litigation management for Zurich Financial Services.
Tampa, Florida-based HIIQ is a cloud-based technology platform and distributor of health and life insurance products.
In developing its compliance function, the company in February also hired Jan Dubauskas as vice president and senior counsel. She had most recently been general counsel for IHC Specialty Benefits. Dubauskas works alongside Janis Rosenthal, HIIQ’s regulatory counsel and vice president of legal affairs. Rosenthal joined the company in 2017.
‘As HIIQ rapidly develops its leading customer service technology platform, Domenick’s expertise fortifies our deep bench of regulatory specialists, ensuring we continue to make compliance a top priority as we expand into new markets and offer a wider range of products,’ HIIQ CEO and president Gavin Southwell says in a statement.
