Canadian insurance giant takes home international award from New York gala
Canada's Manulife Financial was the winner of the award for best overall corporate governance - international at Corporate Secretary’s fifth annual Corporate Governance Awards in New York on January 8.
Angela Shaffer, vice president and corporate secretary, graciously accepted the award, which she said was a tribute to the Manulife board of directors' commitment to focusing on ways to improve corporate governance.
In this video interview at the awards ceremony, Shaffer explains some of the actions Manulife's board took to help propel the company to better governance.
