Plain English, solid infographics and clear explanation of pay for performance win best proxy statement
The Hartford Financial Services Group was the winner for best proxy statement at Corporate Secretary’s fifth annual Corporate Governance Awards in New York on January 8.
Terence Shields, vice president, counsel and assistant secretary at the Hartford, along with members of his legal team, accepted the award for the financial services company – a significant achievement considering the additional emphasis on proxy disclosures last year.
In this video interview at the awards ceremony, Shields explains some of the considerations Hartford’s legal team made to produce a proxy statement that was a more readable and accessible document for shareholders.
