James Gallegos has joined Alliant Energy as vice president and general counsel.
Gallegos brings much experience of the utility sector, having served for seven years as vice president and corporate general counsel at Burlington Northern Santa Fe. He replaces executive vice president, general counsel and chief administrative officer Barbara Swan, who has retired.
‘We’re pleased to welcome Jim to Alliant Energy. His mix of experience with publicly traded companies and in the utility industry has given him the well-rounded skills to lead our talented team of attorneys,’ says William Harvey, chairman, president and CEO of Alliant Energy.
‘I did a great deal of research on Alliant Energy before accepting this position,’ Gallegos writes in a release announcing his appointment. ‘I was impressed with its operations, its focus on what’s important for customers and the staff of competent and dedicated lawyers I am going to have the opportunity to work with.’
Gallegos’ experience also includes eight years at Qwest Communications International, where he held several positions including vice president of legal affairs. He has a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Colorado, and graduated from the University of Minnesota Law Center. He assumes responsibility and oversight of Alliant Energy’s legal team.
