Anadarko promotes general counsel

Anadarko Petroleum’s board of directors has selected Amanda McMillian to become executive vice president and general counsel, effective earlier this month.

McMillian is now a member of the company’s executive committee, reporting to Anadarko chair, president and CEO Al Walker. She has served in positions of increasing responsibility since joining the company in December 2004, most recently as senior vice president, general counsel, corporate secretary and chief compliance officer.

Robert Reeves, the company's executive vice president for law and chief administrative officer, will continue to serve as executive vice president and chief administrative officer until his retirement at the end of the year. Reeves joined Anadarko in March 2004 as senior vice president for corporate affairs and law.

During her time at Anadarko, McMillian also served from January 2008 to August 2012 as vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Western Gas Holdings, a subsidiary of Anadarko and general partner of Western Gas Partners. Before joining the company, she practiced corporate and securities law at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, representing clients on transactional, corporate governance and securities matters.
