Ingredion has hired former Dell Technologies attorney Janet Bawcom as general counsel and corporate secretary, effective April 15.
In her new role, Bawcom oversees the company’s global legal, compliance and regulatory affairs and reports to company president and CEO Jim Zallie. NYSE-listed Ingredion, which is based in Westchester, Illinois outside Chicago, creates ingredients for the food, beverage, paper, brewing and other industries by transforming grains, fruits, vegetables and other plant materials.
Bawcom succeeds Christine Castellano, who worked at Ingredion for more than two decades. According to a regulatory filing, Castellano resigned from her positions as senior vice president, general counsel, corporate secretary and chief compliance officer effective February 1, 2019.
Bawcom previously spent 20 years at Dell in a number of legal positions, most recently serving as senior vice president of corporate, securities and finance counsel and assistant secretary. During her career at Dell, she had responsibility for legal matters including M&A, board governance, corporate securities, public reporting and capital markets issues.
Dell returned to the public markets in December after receiving approval of the transaction by its shareholders at a special meeting. The transaction involved simplifying the company’s corporate ownership structure.
‘Janet is an accomplished leader with an extensive background managing global legal, regulatory and compliance issues,’ Zallie says in a statement. ‘Her strong business acumen and impressive range of legal expertise will be a tremendous asset to Ingredion as we focus on driving our business forward.’
