Recent appointments.
* Walgreens has named Thomas Sabatino as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. He replaces Dana Green, executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, who is retiring after 37 years with the company.
Sabatino joins Walgreens having held general counsel roles with United Airlines, Schering-Plough Corporation, Baxter International and American Medical International.

After beginning his career with a law firm and then moving into corporate law, in 1990 Sabatino was named president and CEO of privately held medical products manufacturer and distributor Secure Medical of Mundelein, Ill.
* Maxim Resources has recently confirmed that it has added Roy Hudson of Canadian law firm Davis to serve as the company’s interim corporate secretary. At present, Hudson is the junior oil and gas production and exploration corporate counsel for the company. The added duties of corporate secretary will be complementary in nature, the Vancouver-based company says.
Hudson is a partner in Davis’ Calgary office. His practice is focused on advising resource-based and other companies involved in oil & gas exploration and production, energy services, mining, construction and technology. In this new capacity, he will work closely with management and boards of directors to provide advice and implement strategic initiatives.
* Nevada Exploration (NGE) has appointed David Carbonaro as corporate secretary. Carbonaro is a partner in the Toronto business law group of Heenan Blaikie and has been practicing corporate finance, international and mining law for more than 24 years. As a member of Heenan Blaikie’s mining group, he has acted for mining company clients and resource investment firms with interests around the world, and he brings to NGE a wealth of contacts and expertise in advising and financing public mining companies.
* Romande Energie, the fifth-largest electricity distributor in Switzerland, has named Pierre Oberson as the successor to Olivier Rapin, the current board secretary and corporate secretary of the company. At present, Oberson, serves as Rapin’s deputy, and is expected to assume his duties in September 2012.
Oberson studied law at the universities of Fribourg and Leipzig. After being admitted to the bar, he became legal adviser to a member of the Fribourg Cantonal Government in 1999 before joining the KPMG global network of audit and consultancy firms in 2003. He has also headed the legal department of Romande Energie Group since 2008, in which capacity he is a director or board secretary of various of the group’s subsidiaries.
Oberson also sits on the legal affairs committee and the regulation committee of the Swiss Electricity Companies Association.
