Cassity succeeds Dale Huffman at the Denver-based company
Wendy Cassity has joined Denver, Colorado-based Thompson Creek Metals Company as vice president, general counsel and secretary. Cassity succeeds Dale Huffman, who announced his decision to leave Thompson Creek in early August.
‘Wendy has extensive experience in corporate securities law and mergers and acquisitions, and will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters for Thompson Creek,’ chairman and CEO Kevin Loughrey comments in a statement announcing her Cassity’s appointment.
Cassity comes to Thompson Creek after serving as outside counsel for Washington, DC-based Danaher Corporation, where she advised the company on M&A-related matters. Her prior legal experience also includes a considerable number of years in private practice, first as a corporate associate at the law firm Cravath Swaine & Moore, and then as an associate – and eventually partner – at McDermott Will & Emery.
Cassity received a BA, double- majoring in English and history, from the University of Arizona, where she graduated with honors. She then went on to pursue her law degree at Columbia University School of Law.
While at Columbia, Cassity served as managing editor of the Columbia Law Review and was recognized as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar.
