ADI appoints general counsel

Larry Weiss to join tech company from Medtronic unit

Norwood, Massachusetts-based Analog Devices (ADI) has recruited Larry Weiss as vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, effective February 11. In his new position, Weiss will oversee ADI’s global legal function including M&A, intellectual property and compliance matters.

Margaret Seif was the company’s previous general counsel. She has been promoted to chief legal officer (CLO) and Weiss will report to her. As CLO and chief people officer, Seif provides oversight for several functions at Analog Devices, including legal, HR and communications.

Weiss was most recently vice president and general counsel of Medtronic’s Minimally Invasive Therapies Group (MITG). In that role, he led the legal and healthcare economics and reimbursement functions for the global MITG business. Before that, he was vice president and general counsel of Covidien Surgical Solutions, the largest global business unit at Covidien before its acquisition by Medtronic.

Earlier in his career, he held several senior legal positions at Covidien and its predecessor company Tyco Healthcare.

ADI creates a broad portfolio of analog, mixed-signal and digital-signal processing integrated circuits used in almost all types of electronic equipment.

‘We are delighted to welcome Larry to Analog Devices,’ Seif says in a statement. ‘Larry’s experience counseling CEOs and senior leaders on a wide spectrum of legal matters, from organizational transformation and strategic transactions to intellectual property, make him an excellent addition to ADI. We look forward to his leadership as we continue to drive ADI to ever-greater levels of success.’
