San Francisco-based Asana has hired Eleanor Lacey as its head of legal and general counsel. She is the first person to hold the role at the company, according to a spokesperson.
Lacey previously served as chief legal officer for global cyber-security software company Sophos. Prior to that, she led legal teams for companies including SurveyMonkey, Corel Corporation and Niku Corporation.
In her new role, Lacey leads Asana’s legal department in tackling issues such as privacy, compliance, intellectual property and commercial. She is also an executive member of Hipower and serves on the advisory council of the Women’s General Counsel Network.
Asana helps corporate teams organize and manage their work, such as digital changes, product launches and marketing campaigns. According to the company, Asana completed its Series D and Series E funding rounds last year, bringing its total valuation to $1.5 billion. The company says its clients include AB-InBev, Airbnb, KLM Air France, NASA, Overstock.com, Uber and Vox Media.
