San Jose, California-based Cadence Design Systems has hired Alinka Flaminia as senior vice president, chief legal officer and corporate secretary.
In her new role, Flaminia heads the electronic design company’s global legal operations, including CSR issues, compliance and government affairs. She reports to CEO Lip-Bu Tan, Cadence’s CEO.
Flaminia joins Nasdaq-listed Cadence from Mellanox Technologies, which was recently acquired by NVIDIA Corporation, where she was senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. She previously served as general counsel and corporate secretary for PMC-Sierra and was senior counsel for Xilinx. She also worked in private legal practice for a decade advising technology industry clients.
Flaminia succeeds Jim Cowie, senior vice president and general counsel. He is now an adviser to Tan, a spokesperson confirmed.Â
‘We’re thrilled to welcome Alinka Flaminia to our executive leadership team,’ says Tan in a statement. ‘She is a seasoned professional with extensive experience and an outstanding track record leading the legal operations for top technology companies. Her broad skills and deep industry know-how will help us tremendously as we execute upon our intelligent-system design strategy and enable our customers to accelerate their innovation.
‘Since joining Cadence in 2000, Jim Cowie has richly contributed to Cadence in several areas. His counsel and leadership contributed to the strong growth of our business, and his efforts spearheading employee advocacy programs fueled our high-performance culture. On behalf of Cadence, our board of directors and shareholders, I would like to thank Jim for his dedication and leadership.’
