Candy Lawson has joined Comcast Corporation – the main businesses of which are Comcast Cable, NBCUniversal and Sky – as senior vice president, chief compliance officer (CCO) and senior deputy general counsel.
In her new role, Lawson is responsible for overseeing, developing and implementing the media company’s internal policies and procedures and its compliance with laws, regulations and contracts both domestically and internationally. She reports to Tom Reid, senior executive vice president, general counsel and secretary of Comcast Corporation.
Lawson was previously senior vice president, deputy general counsel and group CCO at 21st Century Fox, where she advised the company on compliance issues such as strategies, policies and procedures to mitigate risk across all areas of the business.
After The Walt Disney Company acquired 21st Century Fox last year, Lawson was appointed to lead Disney’s international compliance team, a role in which she oversaw the integration and implementation of compliance policies. She had previously worked at News Corporation where she was vice president, deputy general counsel and group CCO for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Earlier in her career she was the anti-corruption counsel for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Morgan Stanley.
She is based in Comcast’s London office and at its headquarters in Philadelphia.
‘Candy has an impressive record of providing strategic compliance and legal risk guidance to boards of directors and executive management teams at multinational companies,’ Reid says in a statement. ‘Her extensive experience and expertise will make her an outstanding leader of our strong compliance team.’
