Alcoholic beverage company Constellation Brands has promoted Tiffanie De Liberty to the position of senior vice president, general counsel and chief compliance officer (CCO). She reports directly to Jim Bourdeau, executive vice president and general counsel.
As general counsel for the wine and spirits division, De Liberty will contribute to its business strategy and direction. The wine and spirits leadership team comprises senior officials from marketing, sales, operations, finance, legal and human resources. As CCO, she is charged with heading up Constellation’s efforts to ensure the company upholds the highest standards of ethical and legal conduct, chairs the corporate compliance committee and reports the company’s compliance activities to the board’s audit committee.
De Liberty’s promotion is part of a reshuffle in the compliance and legal leadership teams. Kris Carey was previously Constellation’s senior vice president and general counsel for the beer division, CCO and chief diversity officer. She recently moved into a senior vice president, human resources and chief diversity officer role, leaving open the general counsel for the beer division role and CCO role. De Liberty has taken over CCO duties from Carey, while Jeff LaBarge - formerly senior vice president and general counsel for wine and spirits - is now senior vice president and general counsel for the beer division.
De Liberty joined Constellation Brands in 2016 as vice president and associate general counsel for trade practices, leading the legal team that reviews marketing, advertising and trade practices for the firm’s total beverage alcohol (TBA) portfolio.
According to the company, she has developed and implemented alcohol-related training programs, materials and corporate policies and procedures for the company’s marketing and sales functions, and represents Constellation at alcohol industry and advertising trade associations.
