Mark Drury has been promoted to the role of vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at San Ramon, California-based CooperCompanies, effective February 15.
Drury joined the NYSE-listed firm in January 2011 and is currently the company’s deputy general counsel with responsibility for CooperVision’s global legal function and certain corporate matters. As general counsel he will report to president and CEO Albert White. Drury was an attorney with Latham & Watkins before joining CooperCompanies.
Drury succeeds Randal Golden, who announced his plans to retire after what CooperCompanies called in an announcement ‘many successful years with the company.’ To help with the succession, Golden will continue to serve in a legal advisory role until February 1, 2021.
Golden became corporate secretary in May 2018, having been general counsel since February 2014. He previously served as assistant general counsel from May 2013 through January 2014. He joined the company in March 2010 as senior counsel. Before working at CooperCompanies, he served as senior director and legal counsel at Align Technology from 2005 through 2010 and as director of legal affairs and senior counsel with Nokia from 2000 to 2005.
CooperCompanies is a global medical device company that operates through two business units, CooperVision and CooperSurgical.
‘I am very pleased to have Mark join our executive team,’ says White in a statement. ‘Mark has a proven track record of success and his strong leadership skills will ensure our legal department remains well positioned to support the organization’s growth into the future.
‘On behalf of CooperCompanies, I want to thank Randy for his years of dedicated service. Randy was instrumental in building CooperCompanies’ legal function and we greatly appreciate everything he has done and wish him the very best in retirement.’
