Paul Jones is leaving his role as vice president, chief legal officer (CLO), chief compliance officer and secretary of Harley-Davidson, effective November 29, 2019, according to a regulatory filing by the company.
Jones has worked at the motorcycle manufacturer for almost 10 years. In his current role, he manages the company’s central functions of strategic planning, portfolio and project management, competitive intelligence and analytics, business process excellence, continuous improvement and corporate sustainability.
As CLO, he manages Harley-Davidson’s legal department and is responsible for all legal matters in addition to the company’s product integrity and public policy/government affairs functions. He also serves as the company’s chief ethics and compliance officer and as corporate secretary.
Before joining Harley-Davidson, Jones was vice president, general counsel and secretary for Regal Beloit Corporation.
‘As Paul moves on to his next professional ventures, the company wishes him well with our gratitude and respect for his many contributions during his time with Harley-Davidson. The company is executing a search for an individual to fill this leadership role,’ the company says in a statement as part of the SEC filing.
A Harley-Davidson spokesperson declined to comment further on behalf of the company or on Jones’ plans.
According to his biography at Harley-Davidson, Jones is an industry representative on the US industry trade advisory committee on consumer goods, a joint appointment by the US Secretary of Commerce and the US trade representative. He is also president of the International Motorcycle Manufacturers Association in Geneva, Switzerland.
