JetBlue Airways has appointed Eileen McCarthy, a former attorney with the company, as its next general counsel and corporate secretary, effective August 5.
McCarthy was most recently senior vice president and deputy general counsel at UiPath, an AI-focused enterprise automation software company. In that role she managed a global team handling corporate governance, securities, employment, ethics and compliance, privacy, insurance, ESG, litigation, equity, transactions and general corporate matters.
Before joining UiPath in 2021, McCarthy spent more than 14 years at JetBlue. According to her LinkedIn profile, she was most recently vice president and associate general counsel for corporate governance, a role in which she advised the airline’s business groups on corporate governance, securities law and compliance, and supported the board and executive team.
Before moving in-house she was a partner in the corporate transactions and securities group at Thompson Hine.
In her new role McCarthy will oversee JetBlue’s legal, ethics and compliance, ESG and sustainability efforts, in addition to managing the company’s relationship with its board of directors.
She will report to CEO Joanna Geraghty, who says in a statement: ‘I’m excited to welcome Eileen back to JetBlue at the helm of our legal department. Her extensive experience and proven leadership in the field will be invaluable as we continue to navigate the dynamic aviation landscape and work to transform our business for long-term success.’
