After 27 years as healthcare giant Johnson & Johnson’s vice president and general counsel, Russ Deyo is set to retire in March 2012, the Associated Press reports.
Deyo will be succeeded by Michael Ullmann who has been general counsel for the company’s medical device unit since 2006. Ullmann will officially become vice president and general counsel on January 1, 2012. Deyo will step down at the end of March.
Before his appointment as general counsel in April 2004, Deyo was vice president, administration, for J&J, a position he took up in October 1996 when he also joined the executive committee. His responsibilities covered human resources, health and safety, environmental affairs, corporate purchasing, quality, construction engineering and real estate.
Deyo also served as chairman of J& J's contributions committee.
Ullmann joined Johnson & Johnson in 1989, served as corporate secretary from 1998 to 2006, and has been general counsel of the Medical Devices & Diagnostics Group since then.
