NYSE-listed Kansas City Southern (KCS) has promoted Adam Godderz from general counsel and corporate secretary to senior vice president, chief legal officer and corporate secretary, effective February 1.
In this expanded role, Godderz is charged with oversight of the company’s legal departments in both the US and Mexico. He reports directly to KCS president and CEO Patrick Ottensmeyer.
Godderz had been general counsel and corporate secretary since January 2019. From 2015 to 2018, he was vice president for labor relations, and before that he was associate general counsel and corporate secretary. He started work at the company in 2007 as associate general counsel, supporting sales and marketing, purchasing and financial transactions.
Before joining KCS, Godderz worked for Embarq Corporation as a procurement attorney for the commercial law department. Before that, he was an associate in the corporate law department for Stinson Morrison Hecker.
Kansas City, Missouri-based KCS is a transportation holding company with railroad investments in the US, Mexico and Panama. Its main US holding is the Kansas City Southern Railway Company, which serves the nation’s central and south-central regions.
‘Over the last year as general counsel and corporate secretary, Adam has continued to demonstrate strong leadership skills and exceptional talent as a lawyer and adviser to the CEO and board of directors, as well as the leader of the legal department,’ Ottensmeyer says in a statement.
