NYSE-listed Kontoor Brands – a clothing company home to the Wrangler and Lee brands – has picked Tom Doerr as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, effective June 6.
Doerr is joining Kontoor from The Manitowoc Company, where he has been executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary since November 2020 and senior vice president, general counsel and secretary since November 2017. Before that he was vice president, general counsel and secretary at Jason Industries.
Previously, Doerr was associate general counsel at Manitowoc overseeing legal matters for the company’s crane business. He first joined Manitowoc in 2006 as legal counsel and later spent time with the company in London and Lyon, France. Before moving in-house, he was an attorney with law firm von Briesen & Roper.
In his new role, Doerr will oversee functions including compliance, legal strategy, issues identification, crisis management and global trademarks and intellectual property matters, in addition to being counsel to the board. He will report to Kontoor’s president, CEO and chair Scott Baxter.
Laurel Krueger was executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at Kontoor, a role she took up in January 2019, before joining fashion retailer Express as senior vice president, chief legal officer and corporate secretary last September.
Kontoor was spun off from VF Corporation in May 2019.
Baxter says in a statement: ‘Tom brings 20 years of impressive professional experience and his global perspective will be invaluable as Kontoor continues to grow. His experience in compliance, litigation, risk management and other corporate matters for publicly traded companies makes him a perfect addition to Kontoor as he takes on this critical role.’
