Meta Financial Group, the holding company for MetaBank, has hired Anthony Sharett as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary.
Sharett previously worked at Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company in a variety of legal and business leadership positions, including as general counsel and interim president for Nationwide Bank and as the president of Nationwide Pet Insurance.
Before that, he was a partner at law firm BakerHostetler, where he was the national co-leader of the financial services practice group.
‘Anthony brings tremendous leadership experience to our legal team,’ says Meta president and CEO Brad Hanson in a statement. ‘We are extremely fortunate to have someone with his background and expertise as we continue to grow and execute our strategic initiatives.’
Sioux Falls, South Dakota-based MetaBank earlier this year recruited Brett Pharr as executive vice president and group head of governance and Karl Riem as senior vice president and chief audit executive.
Pharr, a former risk-management official with Bank of America and Citizens Bank, oversees Meta’s risk, compliance, legal, credit administration and government relations work. Riem had previously spent more than 30 years at Wells Fargo in various senior audit and operational-risk positions.
