Molson Coors Brewing Company’s board of directors has promoted Lee Reichert to chief legal and corporate affairs officer, effective February 28, 2018.
In taking on these new roles, Reichert will join the company’s enterprise leadership team and continue to serve as corporate secretary. He will succeed Sam Walker, who has been appointed executive director of the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment by governor John Hickenlooper, subject to confirmation by the Colorado Senate, according to the company.
Reichert has held legal roles with successively greater responsibility at Molson Coors since joining the company as general counsel of Molson Coors International in 2011. At present, he serves as the company’s deputy chief legal officer (CLO), helping lead the company’s M&A, innovation and international business growth initiatives. Before joining the beer producer, he worked in private legal practice.
‘Lee is an outstanding choice to lead our legal and corporate affairs function,’ CEO Mark Hunter says in a statement. ‘He has a great track record and is driven and focused on winning the right way.’
Walker joined the company in 2002 and has served as CLO since 2005, playing leading roles in the creation of the Miller Coors joint venture in the US, the acquisition of StarBev and the acquisition of MillerCoors and the Miller International business as a divestiture in Anheuser Busch InBev’s acquisition of SABMiller.
‘Sam Walker leaves an enduring impact on our business,’ Hunter says in a statement. ‘When our company’s history is written, his name will be central to the change and journey we delivered across 2005-2018. In the [Molson Coors Brewing Company] book, this will be a massively important chapter.’
