Panasonic Avionics Corporation has hired Abby Bried as vice president and general counsel.
In her new role, Bried advises on laws, regulations, public policy, ethics and risk affecting the company. She is also a member of Panasonic Avionics’ senior leadership team in developing and leading its corporate legal strategy.
Kimberly Chainey was vice president and general counsel with Panasonic Avionics until this summer, when she joined NYSE-listed AptarGroup as executive vice president and global general counsel, effective July 27.
Panasonic Avionics, a supplier of in-flight entertainment and communication systems, is a subsidiary of Panasonic Corporation of North America, which is in turn the principal North American subsidiary of Panasonic Corporation.
Bried now reports directly to Jessica Hodkinson, vice president, general counsel and secretary of Panasonic Corporation of North America, with a dotted-line reporting structure to Panasonic Avionics president and CEO Ken Sain.
Bried was previously a Washington, DC-based partner at law firm Jenner & Block, where she was developing a new aviation and aerospace practice group focused on commercial aviation and emerging technologies in operational and manufacturing areas. She has been a legal adviser and business partner at Northwest Airlines, Continental Airlines and United Airlines, where she was associate general counsel from 2012 to 2017.
‘We are delighted to welcome Abby to Panasonic Avionics,’ Sain says in a statement. ‘With her long-standing experience and proven track record as a legal counsel, and deep-rooted knowledge of aviation, we know she will be a great asset to our business.
Bried states: ‘As aviation recovers from its biggest economic challenge, Panasonic Avionics will play a crucial role in transforming the customer experience and enhancing airline operations, and I am thrilled to be joining this innovative industry leader at this critical time.’
