Christine Flores, Pinterest’s general counsel and corporate secretary, has informed the company that she plans to leave, effective October 1.
In an SEC filing announcing the move, Pinterest states that Flores’ departure is not due to any disagreement with the company. ‘The company thanks Ms Flores for her many contributions and wishes her the best in her future endeavors,’ the filing states. ‘The company will initiate a search for Ms Flores’ replacement and Ms Flores is working with the company to help identify her replacement and ensure an orderly transition.’
Flores joined Pinterest in 2017, two years before the company went public. She is responsible for managing Pinterest’s legal, compliance and public policy teams.
She was previously a vice president of legal at Google, where she led legal teams focused on securities and corporate governance, M&A, real estate, compliance and legal operations. Before her almost decade-long spell at Google, she was an attorney at law firms Proskauer Rose and Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom, where she advised public and private companies on transactional matters.
A Pinterest spokesperson responded to a request for comment from Flores with this statement: ‘Christine Flores will be stepping back from her role at Pinterest at the end of the year to focus on her personal interests. She has been a valued member of the executive team for more than five years and truly dedicated to her work as Pinterest’s general counsel, managing our legal, compliance and public policy teams.
‘Her deep expertise in preparing companies for [an] IPO has been important to growing Pinterest to the global company it is today. We are so grateful for her many contributions to the team and the solid foundation she helped build for the legal function and the future growth of Pinterest. Christine will be involved in identifying the new general counsel and facilitating a seamless transition.’
