Raytheon Technologies names new general counsel

Raytheon Technologies has promoted Raja Maharajh to become general counsel, reporting to chair and CEO Greg Hayes.

Previously chief of staff to Hayes, Maharajh joined the company in 2004 and has since held a number of leadership roles including general counsel of Pratt & Whitney, one of Raytheon Technologies’ businesses.

In his new role he oversees legal and regulatory affairs, matters such as corporate governance and transactions, ethics and compliance, litigation, contracts and intellectual property.

Before joining the company, Maharajh was an attorney with Bazerman & Drangel, where he advised on intellectual property and commercial litigation matters. He started his career as a manufacturing engineer at Maidenform.

Maharajh succeeds Frank Jimenez, who Raytheon Technologies says in a statement has decided to pursue new opportunities outside the company. ‘We appreciate Frank’s legal guidance and expertise, especially as we completed our merger, and we wish him the best,’ Hayes says in the announcement. Raytheon Technologies was formed in 2020 by the merger of Raytheon Company and United Technologies Corporation.

Hayes adds: ‘Raja brings decades of legal experience to the general counsel role and has served as a trusted adviser to me and the senior leadership team. He is a proven leader, partnering across global teams to achieve results for our company and our customers.
