Ticketmaster has hired Karen Klein as executive vice president and general counsel, reporting to company president Jared Smith.
In her new role, Klein heads up Ticketmaster’s legal, government affairs, public policy and human resources teams.
She was most recently chief administrative officer and general counsel at online hotel booking firm HotelTonight. Before that, she was general counsel at Kayak and led the global legal team at Orbitz. Earlier in her career, Klein served as general counsel at InstallShield Corporation and corporate counsel at Platinum Technology, and was an attorney with Katten Muchin Rosenman, according to her LinkedIn profile.
‘Karen has unparalleled experience with some of the world’s leading consumer brands,’ Smith says in a statement. ‘Her extensive background in technology, and specifically the travel industry, provides her with the unique ability to step in and effectively help manage and educate on the complex issues that face large global e-commerce companies like Ticketmaster.’
‘I’ve been fortunate enough to work with innovative companies using technology to both disrupt industries and create new ways for consumers to access experiences,’ Klein says in the announcement. ‘The team at Ticketmaster has been doing just that in the live event space as the global industry leader in ticketing.’
According to Ticketmaster, the company in 2018 managed more than 400,000 events and delivered 500 million tickets to fans in 28 countries.
