NYSE-listed Valero Energy Corporation is promoting Richard Walsh, vice president and deputy general counsel, to become senior vice president and general counsel, effective July 15, 2020.
Walsh will be filling the seat vacated by Jason Fraser, who has been executive vice president and general counsel since January 2019. Fraser has been appointed executive vice president and CFO at Valero, also effective July 15. He in turn is succeeding Donna Titzman, who is retiring as executive vice president and CFO on the same date and will continue with the company for a transitional period following July 15.
In his current role, Walsh is responsible for San Antonio, Texas-based Valero’s litigation, regulatory and employment law departments, as well as the company’s ad valorem tax and environmental, health and safety groups. He previously held a variety of leadership roles within Valero’s legal department.
Fraser joined the company in 1999 as a member of the legal department. In that role he focused on M&A and commercial and antitrust law. Before becoming general counsel, he was a senior vice president with oversight of Valero’s public policy, strategic planning, governmental affairs, investor relations and external communications functions. Before that, he was president of European commercial operations and vice president of specialty products marketing.
‘We are extremely excited to have Jason move into the CFO role with Rich taking on the general counsel position, and are confident in their ability to help Valero execute on its strategic objectives and ensure its continued financial strength,’ Valero chair and CEO Joe Gorder says in a statement.
‘We are also grateful to Donna for her contributions to Valero during her tenure as CFO. Donna has played a key role in the growth of our company since she joined us in 1986. We appreciate her continued support while Jason transitions into the role, and we wish her the very best in the future.’
