The Wendy’s Company is promoting chief legal officer (CLO) EJ Wunsch to become president of the company’s international business, effective June 17.
According to a Wendy’s spokesperson, Wunsch will continue as CLO while transitioning to the firm’s international business until a successor is hired, for which an external search is underway.
Wunsch has been CLO since joining Wendy’s in 2016. In that role he has been involved in initiatives across Australia, Asia, Europe and South America. Before joining Wendy’s, he spent 17 years at The Procter & Gamble Company where he held several key leadership positions, most recently vice president and general counsel of the company’s North America business.
His other work with Procter & Gamble included having overall legal responsibility for the company’s patent, trademark and advertising activity throughout Asia, being assistant corporate secretary and being associate general counsel for employee benefits, corporate governance and securities matters.
Earlier in his career, he was an associate attorney with law firm Taft Stettinius & Hollister.
Wunsch says in a statement: ‘I see a huge opportunity for Wendy’s on the international stage. I’m eager to support our current franchise and company operations in driving outsized growth, while also advancing our footprint to bring more Wendy’s to more customers around the globe.’
